OPINION - For how much longer will King Goodwill Zwelithini continue to leech off the taxpayer?
Of what benefit is he to the KwaZulu-Natal citizen, much less to the wider country?
South Africa is a constitutional democracy in which there should be no place for hangovers from past royal dynasties.
How the king cannot sustain himself on R66 million is difficult to comprehend. Perhaps he needs to cut his coat to suit his cloth, the way the rest of us plebians do on a daily basis to survive in these depressed economic times.
To make ends meet, the king could cut back on his international trips, which are of no benefit to those of us who pay for these jaunts, host fewer cultural festivals, or get those who participate in them to contribute to the costs, and shut down the farms he evidently struggles to produce anything on.
