Lindiwe Ntshalintshali, the Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, made a statement at the 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in a gown that certainly caught attention.

Created by B Mashilo Designs from Groblersdal, her dress blended gold, grey and a soft baby blue hue, making it a daring yet striking choice.

The gown hugged her figure perfectly, showing off her curves in all the right places while the detailed sequins added an extra layer of glam.

However, while evening wear is expected at SONA, the mermaid-like wedding gown-inspired look she donned had some mixed feelings. It definitely turned heads but it’s clear the event calls for something more fitting for the political and formal occasion—something a little more sleek and bold.

To complete her look, Ntshalintshali paired the gown with a diamond choker-style necklace, adding a touch of luxury and sophistication.

While the dress may have bordered on bridal, she certainly made an effort to incorporate some sharp accessorising and a sparkle.

Meanwhile, the First Deputy Secretary-General of the ANC, Nomvula Mokonyane, went with nude shades for her SONA look.

She wore a cream shirt, a high-waisted fitted beige skirt with ruffle details as well as a matching tie.

She accessorised her look with a gold handbag, gold hoop earrings and red lipstick.
