While still smarting from their last-minute defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby over the weekend, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi believes his charges are still on the right track.

Chiefs conceded a penalty with the last kick of the game at a packed FNB Stadium, and were helpless as their fierce rivals grabbed the opportunity to snatch a 1-0 win.

Chiefs player Njabulo Blom was adjudged to have fouled Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng before the winger sent his shot wide deep in second half injury time.

Patrick Maswanganyi stepped up to cheekily chip the ball into the back of the net for Pirates, after Chiefs keeper Bruce Bvuma dived to his left.

The result left Nabi and his legions of AmaKhosi fans frustrated and disappointed. However, they will not have much time to dwell on that defeat as they are in action again on Tuesday evening against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium once more. Kick-off is 7.30pm for the Betway Premiership clash.

Posting his thoughts on Instagram, Nabi said on Monday: "Amakhosi faithful, your passion fuels us. A tough one [on Saturday], the result stings, but we see the progress, the strides we’re making," he posted on his Instagram account.

"The journey is long, but we’re on the right path. Thank you for your unwavering belief, and thanks to management for their continued support. We will rise again, God willing.”

Despite their loss to Pirates, Chiefs are still placed fifth on the log with 21 points from 15 matches. Sekhukhune United are three points ahead in fourth, while Polokwane City are third on 28 points.

Pirates, however, are on 30 points from 12 matches while table-toppers Mamelodi Sundowns are on 36 from 13 games.
