Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) has announced the strategic appointment of Takashi Nishida as its new Chairman (Non-Executive Director).
Nishida succeeds Satoshi Yamaguchi, who is set to retire after a 43-year career.
Yamaguchi served as both Managing Executive Officer of the Light Commercial Vehicle Business and Chairman of IMSAf.
Taking the helm as chairman, Nishida brings nearly three decades of experience at Isuzu, along with extensive global insights that will be invaluable in his new role. His career trajectory began in Aftersales and Parts operations, leading him to a focus on Overseas Sales, particularly within the African market over the last 20 years.
Nishida's international experience is extensive; he has undertaken various assignments, including a significant period at Isuzu Truck South Africa between 2007 and 2010, as well as roles in Isuzu Motors International Operations in Thailand, Isuzu Motors Sub-Saharan Africa, and most recently Isuzu Motors International in Dubai from 2017 to 2022. Each of these roles has equipped him with unique insights into the automotive landscape across diverse markets.
In addition to his responsibilities as Chairman of IMSAf, Nishida will also serve as Vice President of the International Sales Division, overseeing the International Parts Business and Trade Management at Isuzu Motors Limited.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr Nishida to this leadership role in South Africa. His deep understanding of our market, combined with extensive international experience, will be instrumental as we continue to drive sustainable growth and further expand the IMSAf business," said President of Isuzu Motors South Africa, Billy Tom.
