Police have arrested a suspect believed to be behind a stabbing frenzy in Milnerton, which has left the wife of a former member of the Milnerton Crime Watch Trust (MCWT) in a critical condition in hospital.

The drama unfolded on Wednesday outside the Cash Crusaders in Milnerton, when an unknown man started stabbing members of the public, the first being a woman.

He then moved to Koeberg Road where he stabbed another victim, a man, who managed to escape, making it to the police station where he reported what happened.

Police spokesperson, Anelisiwe Manyana, said the suspect was arrested and charged while the victims were in a critical condition in hospital.

“We can confirm that Milnerton police opened an attempted murder case, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm and possession of dangerous weapon following an incident that took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025,” she said.

“It is alleged that an unknown suspect started stabbing the victims in Milnerton.

“The suspect then moved down to Bosmansdam where he attacked another male victim. This victim ran to the police station and reported the incident.

“Milnerton police responded to the complaint and that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.”

Manyana said the suspect is expected to appear at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court tomorrow(fri).

The Milnerton Crime Watch Trust also took to their Facebook page, where they called for witnesses to come forward.

“At approximately 2:29pm, MCWT received notification of a stabbing outside Cash Crusaders Milnerton,” they said.

“Patrol supervisor Gert Prinsloo and patrolman Cassiem immediately responded and upon arrival found a female victim with multiple stab wounds.

"Emergency services were contacted and attended to the critical patient who was transported to hospital for further treatment.

“Enquiries led the team to discover further stabbing incidents along Koeberg Road towards Milnerton SAPS.

"One suspect was arrested by SAPS or close to Milnerton SAPS itself.”

They added that no motive for the stabbings were known.

“Two of the victims are in critical condition.  It was further discovered the female victim is the wife of James Jonker who had previously assisted MCWT with our signboard project,” the Trust said.

“It is requested that if anyone witnessed any of these incidents and has not given statements to please contact Milnerton SAPS.

“Thank you to the MCWT Team for their professionalism and teamwork in dealing with incidents.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims, their family and friends.”
