Mondi Business Paper in Richards Bay has invested R100 million in a gas turbine that will significantly reduce its carbon dioxide emissions and enable it to sell carbon credits to developed countries.
The gas turbine, which will help to cut carbon pollution in Richards Bay appreciably, is expected to be up and running by the middle of August.
The turbine will generate most of the electricity for the Mondi plant, replacing Eskom electricity and coal burning at the plant with gas from Sasol. - Margie Inggs, Durban
