The Crazy Store, a beloved retail staple in Southern Africa, is marking an impressive milestone this year, 28 years of brightening homes and bringing joy through affordability and playful offerings.
Established with a simple yet profound philosophy of putting people first, the brand has carved a distinctive niche by continually prioritising customer satisfaction and maintaining a sense of fun.
“It’s amazing to look back at how far we’ve come. But what I’m most proud of is how we’ve stayed true to who we are, customer and people-focused, down-to-earth, and genuinely committed to making a difference,” Kevin Lennett, Managing Director of The Crazy Store said.
Over the years, The Crazy Store has created over 3,500 jobs within its stores across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Eswatini. The brand prides itself on its people-centric approach; more than 50 staff members have celebrated over 20 years with the company, a testament to a work culture that values loyalty, growth, and mutual respect.
Each of The Crazy Store’s shops, typically about 250 square metres in size, features an impressive array of up to 4,000 unique and affordable products spanning categories such as party supplies, helium balloons, toys, kitchenware, stationery, gifts, and seasonal delights.
As the company sets its sights on opening its 600th store, its commitment to community engagement and positive impact remains steadfast.
The Crazy Store continues to support remarkable organisations, including the Red Cross Children’s Hospital, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, and Reach for a Dream.
These collaborations reflect a broader understanding that success transcends mere profit—it’s about the joy shared and the lives touched throughout the communities they serve.
No celebration is complete without a surprise, and The Crazy Store is no exception.
In honour of its 28-year journey, one lucky shopper will have the chance to win a brand-new Kia Picanto.
To participate, customers need only purchase any item from the birthday sale, snap a photo of their till slip, and send it via WhatsApp to the designated number.
This exciting initiative is a heartfelt way to give back to the loyal customers who have contributed to the store's rich legacy.
