Shoprite Group opens 16 new stores and creates 358 jobs in just one week

The posh suburbs of Sandton in Hyde Park now has a new shopping destination thanks to the Shoprite Group. 

This comes after the Shoprite Group unveiled 16 new shopping destinations within a single week, significantly enhancing their presence across the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Gauteng provinces.

This latest expansion has not only broadened the variety of shopping options available but has also created 358 new job opportunities for eager job seekers in these regions.

The latest addition to the retail giant’s portfolio, which opened its doors on 31 July, is the flagship Checkers Fresh X located at the prestigious Hyde Park Corner shopping centre in Sandton.

Positioned strategically to cater to a discerning clientele, this state-of-the-art supermarket promises a fresh and convenient shopping experience, complete with an innovative store design.

Featuring an easy-to-navigate layout, customers at Checkers Fresh X can now explore a vast array of both local and international products tailored to their everyday grocery needs.

Among its standout features are:

• An in-store Kauai, promoting healthy eating options.
• A dedicated Krispy Kreme corner, satisfying sweet cravings.
• A Meat Market offering free-range chicken and restaurant-quality steak.
• An artisan bakery that bakes fresh breads and delightful cakes.
• A comprehensive health and wellness section.
• An exquisite wine cellar, providing an authentic experience.
• A selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• A deli featuring hot and cold foods.
• A Money Market counter for added convenience.

The opening of Checkers Fresh X also bears good news for local employment, as 138 new jobs were created to support the store’s operations.

Under the able leadership of Branch Manager Ree O’Brein, who has been a part of the Checkers family since 2018, the store is set to maintain the high standards that customers have come to expect.

In addition to the new supermarket, a standalone Petshop Science outlet has also opened at Hyde Park Corner, providing pet owners with access to premium pet food, toys, and medically-approved essentials from trusted brands such as Montego, Royal Canin, Ultra Dog, Rogz, and many others.
