Nosa forms alliance with UK body

Pretoria - The National Occupational Safety Association (Nosa) had formed a strategic alliance with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) International of UK, the international independent non-profit product safety testing and certification organisation, said Enrico du Plessis, the Nosa`s managing director, this week.

Du Plessis said the alliance was in line with Nosa`s decision to move towards becoming a competitive supplier of certification services globally.

He said the alliance with UL International had not only launched an aggressive drive to boost Nosa`s foreign income but also ensured the creation of a flexible and competitive consultancy service within the association.

Du Plessis added that the certification services would provide Nosa clients with the support for implementation, management and achievement of global acceptance.

``The service will be phased in from August 2000 over the next year to cover all aspects of certification to our selected target markets,`` he said.

Du Plessis said the UL International mark was recognised all over the world and its mark on any product guaranteed approved safety and quality standards.
