DaimlerChrysler, the German parent company of DaimlerChrysler South Africa (DCSA), yesterday confirmed that the successor to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class would be manufactured in East London, securing the future of its local plant.

The confirmation comes a day after Christoph Köpke, DCSA's chairman, said "nothing is finalised" in response to the publication of a newspaper report quoting a DCSA spokesperson as stating that DCSA had received written confirmation on Tuesday from its parent company that it had been awarded the contract.
