A new radio station has been granted a licence to begin commercial broadcasting in Gauteng.

LM Radio, which broadcasts in Mozambique, said yesterday it had received a licence to broadcast on the medium-wave AM frequency, which was one of several medium-wave licences granted.

Chris Turner, the founder, said that locally there was an overwhelming demand for the station’s broadcasting.

LM Radio is expected to take to the air on 702 kHz in Gauteng later this year once the transmitter facilities have been constructed by Sentech, the state-owned broadcast signal distributor.
