COGNITION Holdings, formerly known as FoneWorx Holdings, has acquired 63 percent of BMi Sport Group for an undisclosed sum. This transaction would help the group enhance its strategic objectives and contribute tremendous value to the company’s Knowledge 350 degrees consultancy initiative, the telecoms and information technology solutions provider said yesterday. BMi Sport provides research and media monitoring of South African sports in general and the South African sport sponsorship market in particular to most of the country’s major sponsors. Cognition said, due to its size, the transaction did not require any formal disclosure. The acquisition will further allow Cognition to develop databases incorporating demographic and psychographic profiles of communities supporting defined sports and allow further products to be deployed in these markets. The deal will also contribute to Cognition’s Knowledge 350 degrees. The BMi Sport Group will leverage an important element of Knowledge 350 degrees, which assists companies to “self-create” intangible assets, through its roadmap of tracking data through knowledge. Cognition Holdings fell 2.13 percent to R2.30. – Nompumelelo Magwaza
