THE NATIONAL airliner has announced that it will embark on a major restructuring drive that will affect its employees. The company gave no further details of the planned restructuring, but said it would “right-size its human capital through a natural attrition process”. It said it would give all affected parties notice in terms of section 189 (3) of the Labour Relations Act within the next two weeks. Trade union Solidarity said that it had written to SAA to request for participation in the restructuring process. “During consultation with management we will propose alternatives to retrenchment to minimise the impact of the process on our members,” Johan Botha, the union’s head of professional industry, said. – Sechaba ka’Nkosi
