Insurance Laws Bill on the table

Justin Brown|Published

THE National Treasury and the Financial Services Board (FSB) published the Insurance Laws Bill last week for public comment, the Treasury and the FSB said in a joint statement. “The bill provides a consolidated legal framework for… supervision of the insurance sector… consistent with international standards.” It looks to close gaps identified by the International Monetary Fund and World Bank financial sector assessment programme evaluation of South Africa. “If there are no substantive changes arising from the public comment process, it is anticipated that the bill will be tabled in Parliament by June,” the Treasury and the FSB said. – Staff Reporter
