Cape Town - The Sunday Times newspaper on Tuesday announced that a new editor would replace Phylicia Oppelt and join the publication in January 2016.
Bongani Siqoko, former editor of the Daily Dispatch, would take over as editor.
He would take over from Oppelt, who had “accepted a senior position within the group as general manager of editorial projects”, according to The Media Online (TMO).
“We are confident that Bongani will succeed in his new position. He has proved an exceptional editor and leader at the Dispatch and will bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to his new role, especially as The Sunday Times embarks on a new journey with a fresh design and a new multi-platform future,” said managing director Andrew Gill, as quoted on TMO.
Siqoko, who holds an MA in International Journalism from City University London, will start as editor on January 11, 2016.
Meanwhile, Brett Horner would serve as acting editor of the Daily Dispatch.
Both the Sunday Times and Daily Dispatch are owned by Times Media Group.
