US President Donald Trump has slammed the Super Bowl halftime performance, headlined by multi-award-winning Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny.

The show celebrated Latino heritage with Bad Bunny singing most of his songs in Spanish. The show also featured Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. At the end, Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, shouted out the names of several South American countries before ending his enthralling performance.

"It makes no sense, is an affront to the greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of success, creativity, or excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the USA and all over the World," Trump said.

He added that the show was a "slap in the face" to the US, which he said is setting new standards and records every single day.

"There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a halftime show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD — And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule," he said ending his rant with his tagline, "Make America Great Again".

Meanwhile, Apple Music said Bad Bunny's simultaneous listeners spiked seven times more post halftime, his three most-streamed songs following his performance were DTMF, Baile Inolvidable and Tití Me Preguntó.

The show comes as the US is grappling with anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) dissent.
