The South African entertainment scene is buzzing after podcaster MacG, known for his unfiltered opinions, stirred the pot once again with a remark that has left many netizens divided.
During a recent episode of his popular podcast, "Podcast and Chill with MacG", the commentator referred to award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest as "washed up".
The video, which has since gone viral, raised eyebrows and conversations across social media platforms.
"Cassper is washed. People will think I am hating... There's a saying in football; one pundit said: 'You must leave the football before the football leaves you'. Cassper needs to leave the mic before the mic leaves him,” said MacG.
MacG's comments continued to dive into Nyovest's recent performance, suggesting that it lacked the vibrancy of earlier shows.
"His performance wasn't infused like all the other ones ... It was like when Cassper came on, he gave them a clear instruction like 'Okay, only I'm performing'. It became like the Cassper Show.
He recalled how the Sunbet Arena erupted to Nyovest's older hits, including the classic "Doc Shebeleza", but described the crowd dispersing during the latter part of his set, particularly when he performed his new song, "Hosh Karamaima".
"He played the set as he did for Global Citizen and what I realised from the crowd is that people were vibing to his old songs, like 'Doc Shebeleza', everybody was going ham ... He ended with 'Hosh Karamaima' and people started leaving dogg. I kid you not, you can say I'm a hater, but people started leaving."
Co-host Sol Phenduka concurred, adding: "Cassper is capable of better. We are putting the cart before the horse; we are worried about getting the right dance challenge and songs can do well without dance challenges. South Africans love good music."

In a swift comeback, Nyovest took to social media to respond to the criticisms with a playful yet spiritual retort.
"They are right. I AM WASHED!!!! WASHED BY THE BLOOD OF THE HOLY LAMB & I AM NOW A NEW CREATURE. ALL THE GLORY GOES TO MY LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST!!! That’s why I’m so blessed. I deserve no credit at all. I’m blessed beyond my imagination & I am truly gratetful to be WASHED!"
Seeking to rise above the critiques, Nyovest also announced to his fans that he had contacted his manager, T-Lee, to start planning another highly-anticipated "Fill Up" concert.
"Just called manager T-Lee & asked him to call stadium management cause I’m doing FILL UP this year. Never heard that nigga get so excited!!! He has been asking me and I’m finally ready!!! TEAM NYOVEST!!! GET READY!!! WE GOING BACK TO THE STADIUM!!! It’s time!!! We move by FAITH!!"
This announcement has been met with excitement and support from his dedicated fanbase, eager for the return of what has become a hallmark event in South African music history.
