Controversial media personality Gareth Cliff has once again stirred up a mix of responses on social media with his recent posts about slain US activist Charlie Kirk.
The 31-year-old Kirk was killed on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University, and his death has sent shockwaves around the globe.
In his tribute to Kirk, Cliff dedicated a special episode on his YouTube channel, "Truth Report", to discuss the impact of Kirk's life and his commitment to free speech, truth-telling and the pro-life movement.
Kirk was well-known for his unapologetic defence of free speech, truth-telling, the pro-life movement and his ability to mobilise and inspire the next generation to think for themselves.
Just a day after Kirk's shocking murder, the FBI arrested a suspect, Tyler Robinson. However, reports indicate that Robinson is not cooperating with authorities and has not confessed to carrying out the shooting.
In tweets reacting to the incident, Cliff did not hold back his opinions.
He wrote on X: "The assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah is extremely sad and has massive political ramifications".
He emphasised his belief that true free speech is clashing with leftist ideologies.
In another tweet, he reposted British author and philanthropist J. K. Rowling's post: "If you believe free speech is for you but not your political opponents, you're illiberal. If no contrary evidence could change your beliefs, you're a fundamentalist.
"If you believe the state should punish those with contrary views, you're a totalitarian. If you believe political opponents should be punished with violence or death, you're a terrorist."
Cliff's posts have ignited a heated debate online. Some users resonated with his views, while others called him out.
@Naomi_Wonders said: "Exactly. When words can’t be beaten with reason, the left answers with bullets. Free speech terrifies them because it exposes their lies, and now a man is dead for daring to speak. This isn’t just sad, it’s proof of how dangerous speaking what you believe has become."
@Petro_Squell commented: "The saying 'you live by a gun, u die by a gun'. Good riddance to a racist."
@sobantuntlokwan wrote: "Even hardcore racists deserve a better way to depart this world."
@Unnamingmyself posted: "Charlie Kirk met the end he so often wished upon others. He devoted his life to fanning the flames of hatred, political division and violence - profiting from it all. The irony is that his final breath was wasted on defending the very thing that killed him. Gun violence."
