The 2025 Emmy Awards at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater were filled with many entertaining moments among the well-deserved wins.
“Hacks” actress Hannah Einbinder won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series ahead of Katheryn Hahn and Catherine O'Hara ("The Studio"), Liza Colon-Zayas ("The Bear"), and Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph of "Abbott Elementary".
This was Einbinder’s fourth Emmy nomination, and in her speech, she thanked the creators of “Hacks” for changing her life by not just giving her a great gig but also for her friends and family.
As she wrapped up her speech, she said: "Finally, I just wanna say - I'll pay the difference, sorry. Finally, I just wanna say, finally, go Birds, F*** ICE and Free Palestine."
Speaking to the media in the press room, Einbinder expanded on her acceptance speech call to “Free Palestine.”
“I thought it was important to talk about Palestine, because it’s an issue that’s very dear to my heart. I have friends in Gaza who are working as frontline workers, as doctors, right now in the north of Gaza, to provide care for pregnant women and for school children to create schools in the refugee camps. And it’s an issue that’s really close to my heart for many reasons.”
She continued, “I feel like it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the State of Israel, because our religion and our culture is such an important and long-standing institution that is really separate to this sort of ethno-nationalist state.”
After host Nate Bargatze had earlier pledged to donate $100,000 (R1 735,285.04) to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Still, he warned he would deduct $1,000 (R17 349,44) from the total for "every second" an acceptance speech went over 45 seconds. Einbinder cost the charity over $10,000 but vowed to make up the shortfall.
