1. Robert Redford dies, aged 89
Cinema icon Robert Redford passed away in his sleep at his Utah home on Tuesday, September 16, at the age of 89.
Known for his roles in classics like “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “The Sting”, Redford also won an Oscar for directing “Ordinary People” and was honoured with a lifetime achievement award in 2002.
He co-founded the Sundance Film Festival in 1985, supporting independent film-makers, while also being a committed environmental activist. Tributes from Hollywood industry peers have since been pouring in for the deceased icon.

2. Jojo Robinson parts with her McLaren 570S
Reality star Jojo Robinson announced she sold her yellow McLaren 570S after two years. Sharing the news on Instagram, she reflected on memories with the car and hinted at her next supercar purchase when she returns from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Her top options are a Lamborghini Huracan or a Ferrari 488 GTB. Robinson, known for her love of fast cars, previously celebrated getting a new Ford Mustang GT in 2024.

3. Mariah Carey underwhelms at “The Town Festival 2025"
Mariah Carey closed “The Town Festival 2025” at São Paulo’s Interlagos Racetrack, performing hits and songs from her upcoming album “Here For It All”.
Fans noted her high notes were on point, but many felt she appeared stiff and less present on stage. The festival also featured Jessie J, Ivete Sangalo and Natasha Bedingfield.
Additionally, Carey’s comeback album, releasing September 26, will feature 11 songs with collaborations including Anderson.Paak, Kehlani, Shenseea and The Clark Sisters.
The vocals showed up, but the moves took the day off when US singer Mariah Carey performed recently at a festival in Sao Paulo.

4. Nick Cannon opens up about fathering 12 children
Nick Cannon explained he fathered 12 children partly due to being “careless” after his divorce from Mariah Carey, which he did not heal from, labelling it as traumatic.
Speaking on “The Breakfast Club”, he said he did not plan to have so many kids but embraced fatherhood as it came.
Cannon reflected that doing more personal work after his split might have changed things, but he insists all his children were born from love. He says he is currently “pressing hold” on adding more children, but is not opposed to it in the future.

Actor Thapelo Mokoena attended Stella Artois’ invitation-only “Let’s Do Dinner” in New York alongside David Beckham and Maria Sharapova.

6. Relebogile Mabotja releases debut EP for 40th birthday
Relebogile Mabotja marked her 40th birthday with the release of her debut EP “Still Me”. The project, produced by Chadwin Alexander, features five tracks, including a collaboration with RJ Benjamin.

8. Cardi B announces star-studded features for ‘Am I The Drama?’
Rapper Cardi B revealed the feature list for her sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, which drops September 19.
Collaborators include Tyla, Kehlani, Megan Thee Stallion, Selena Gomez, Janet Jackson, Summer Walker, Lizzo and Cash Cobain.

Tyla earned praise from supermodel Claudia Schiffer for wearing a 1993 Chanel piece on the 2025 MTV VMAs red carpet. Tyla styled the corset as a mini dress with black shorts and gold jewelry from Pandora.
The 23-year-old singer, who won “Best Afrobeats Song” for Push 2 Start, received an Instagram shoutout from Schiffer, celebrating Tyla’s fashion sense and the throwback outfit.
