If you thought the drama in Boskruin couldn't get any juicier, think again. This October, "Diepe Waters" introduces a wave of new characters, each bringing their own secrets and tensions.

For those who haven’t been following, "Diepe Waters" is the Afrikaans telenovela that’s been keeping some of you glued to your TV screens since it premiered in 2022.

Set around the competitive swimming club "Die Swartmarlyne", it dives headfirst into the messy, dramatic lives of the families involved.

Right now, the Viljoen family is at the centre of it all, dealing with tensions that threaten to shake their household and test loyalties in unexpected ways.

In Boskruin, nothing is ever simple. Gys is probably getting himself into trouble as usual, either trying to help someone and making it worse, or giving the laaities advice that backfires spectacularly.

Sanet is stressing over some latest drama, Hanneli is doing her own thing and loving the freedom, and Juvan… well, he’s likely causing a stir without even trying.

Meanwhile, Zelda is trying to hold everything together at Skinvestment, but somehow ends up in the middle of every argument anyway.

Deon Coetzee joins the cast as Frans Broeksma, a no-nonsense cattle farmer from the Free State. While Frans is new to the town, Coetzee is far from a stranger to South African audiences.

With memorable roles in "Egoli: Place of Gold," "7de Laan," and "Binnelanders," he brings both gravitas and charm to his portrayal. In those series, he often played strong, principled characters, which makes his role in "Diepe Waters" feel familiar yet slightly more grounded in small-town tensions rather than big-city drama.

Frans is principled and direct, the kind of man who doesn’t suffer fools lightly, but viewers may be surprised by the sensitive side that peeks through his tough exterior.

Marelee Ferreira steps into the role of Kayla Daniels, a junior beautician at Skinvestment. While she’s a fresh face on "Diepe Waters", Ferreira will be familiar to viewers who caught her in "Reënboogrant."

Kayla is energetic, full of ideas, and all about modern, sustainable beauty trends, which naturally rubs veteran staff member Zelda the wrong way.

Emmanuel Castis plays Josh Williams, Anja’s boyfriend from England. Castis is a veteran actor with a career spanning over two decades, including roles in "Isidingo", "Erfsondes" and "Binnelanders".

He’s portrayed intense, complex characters, from the scheming to the sympathetic. Josh is a lighter, more playful role compared to those, showing a fun-loving side while still having depth, especially in navigating relationships with Anja and others in town.

Paul Strydom takes on the role of Allan Lewis, a confident, wealthy finance student with a flashy lifestyle. Strydom has previously appeared in "Reënboogrant" and "Summertide", and his portrayal of Allan adds layers of arrogance, ambition, and drama to the mix.

Alongside him is Lian Strydom as Patrick Pieters, Allan’s quiet right-hand man. Though he is relatively new to the acting scene, he’s already impressed audiences in "Reënboogrant" and "Beauty Hurts!"

These new characters might just stir the pot or bring some unexpected calm. Because we all know, this town needs some peace.
