The rumour mill has been making rounds, and speculations have surfaced online claiming tension between award-winning YouTuber Lasizwe Dambuza and his brother, Lungile Mcunu.
According to the content creator, the once-close brothers, who are known for their humorous content on social media, are not on speaking terms with speculations fuelled by a post that has been circulating on X.
It is alleged that Mcunu is demanding over a million rand for his episode on Dambuza’s “Awkward Dates” show, which reportedly generated over R2 million.
This was brought to light by a X user @qhamadlula, who alleged that Mcunu was only paid R100 000 for his appearance, and this has caused a rift between the brothers.
“Lungile wants to be paid a million plus for his episode of 'Awkward Dates', which made over R2 million plus in revenue. My tomato sauce says Lungile was paid R100k odd rands. Now the brothers don't get along,” he wrote.
However, Dambuza cleared the air on his Instagram close friends' story, stating that money is not the reason behind his fallout with Mcunu.
He revealed that the feud had nothing to do with money or their joint work on his popular YouTube show, but his decision to opt out of the family taxi business, a taxi business inherited from their late father.
“Yes, my brother and I are not on speaking terms for now, because I no longer want to be affiliated to the family taxi business, and that is hurting him badly because he is so invested in carrying on the family legacy.
“This time around, I’m being selfish and choosing what works for me, and I am happy with this side of the world (social media), and it works for me. I wish he could just respect that,” he said.
The YouTube star’s private story was then leaked.
Dambuza voiced his hurt and frustration regarding the breach of his private story, saying his post was not intended for the news headlines.
“My Close Friends wasn’t meant for headlines. It was a moment between me and the people I trust, but ke…I’m not angry. Just tired.”
He further shared that he is exhausted by the drama that has been following him this year, citing his beef with content creator Dominic Zaca.
“I prayed for peace, but didn’t know it came with distance. I’m exhausted. But I’m still here. 2025? My babe, Kanti yini? (what’s wrong),” he added.
Many netizens took to the comment section to share their thoughts about the tension between the beloved duo.
X user @Hlangus_ commented: “Lungile is always carrying Lasizwes shows man, he deserves a decent bag”
Another X user @Maine_rawlpin2 added: “Lasizwe makes money using people. There was a time Lungile was literally holding his content down. The least you could do is be fair, Lungile did more than just one episode, he has a literal series of content with Lungile, you guys need to stop excusing him, man.”
“Lungile is crazy. That’s why working with family is so draining. They don’t get how it works and see the profits, and start making ridiculous demands. He should get paid what they agreed on and keep it moving. He should cut him off, actually,” said @Obaahriqgi.
