Tyla is still on that winning streak, fresh off being named one of Glamour’s “Global Women of the Year” alongside American actress Demi Moore, the Grammy-winning star sat down with “Glamour” UK for a playful “Screen Time” segment.
During the chat, the “Glamour” director guided the conversation, asking her about everything on her phone, from most used apps to celebrity selfies, late-night ideas, and even family chats, and some answers were fun and relatable.
The first reveal was her daily screen time, which many of us, unfortunately, do terribly on. Tyla admitted she clocks about five hours a day on her phone, and even she was not sure if that was good or bad.
“So, okay, I don’t know if this is that bad, but my daily average screen time is like five hours. Is that bad?”
Her WhatsApp tops the list, since she is always chatting with her siblings on their group chat. According to the 23-year-old singer, there is a big family one and then a siblings-only chat for conversations parents do not need to see.
She also confessed she spends plenty of time scrolling TikTok, too.
Like most of us, time limits are not really her thing because when the reminder pops up, she simply hits “add more time” and carries on, admitting, “I’m not disciplined, yo. I need to be disciplined.”
Her most played song reveals her taste in music, and I must say, it’s great.
She shared that Frank Ocean’s "Swim Good" is on loop and that she has been starting her mornings with the song and would love for Ocean to return with new music.
When she opened her camera roll, Tyla could not help but go back to her Met Gala debut in 2024. She has plenty of pictures from that night, including one of her in a bubble bath at 1am after the event.
While many stars hit the after parties, Tyla revealed that she chose a quiet moment to soak, scrub off the sand from her iconic dress and relive the night by scrolling through pictures and outfits.
“I had a big bubble bath, like it was full of bubbles, and I was just talking about it the whole time with my friend. That was like 1:00 AM. I was about to do an after party, but I was so tired,” she said. She called the dress a piece of art and said the whole experience still feels surreal.
During the interview, the “Mr Media” hitmaker shared one of her favourite pictures, and it’s a selfie with Colombian singer Shakira from this year’s Met Gala.
The story behind it is just as cute. Tyla details how she was heading towards the front of the venue to enjoy Stevie Wonder’s performance when she spotted Shakira.
The Colombian superstar suggested they take a selfie and even offered Tyla a ride when her car took too long to arrive.
They had actually met before in Argentina for “something special”, which might be a possible collaboration that fans had speculated on earlier this year.
Travel is a big part of Tyla’s life, and her weather app reflects just how international she has become. Cities she has checked recently include Johannesburg, Tokyo, Kigali, Mykonos, Amsterdam, Mpumalanga, London, Los Angeles and Seoul.
