It’s a big day for Tyla’s fans as the highly anticipated “Chanel” finally arrives with a bang and some stunning visuals fit for a feel-good anthem.
After months of waiting, the single has officially hit streaming platforms, and the 23-year-old Grammy-winning star made sure to spoil her fans with a music video that instantly captures attention.
Each vintage Chanel piece she wears is striking, making the video as stylish as it is captivating.
To celebrate, Tyla hosted a “Put Her in Chanel” brunch in Los Angeles. According to “Billboard”, the event brought together influencers, journalists and some of the stars from the “Chanel” video.
The brunch took place on Thursday, October 23. Tyla made sure her guests left with a touch of Chanel. Each attendee received compact mirrors from the fashion house, which they could customise with an engraving.
“I’m here to spoil the girls. I’m putting you all in Chanel today. This song is very special. Not only is it about getting spoiled and getting treated like our worth, it’s also just a statement. It’s for the girls. We know our worth. We are who we are. We know what we bring to the table,” said Tyla during a toast.
Styled by Ronnie Hart, Tyla’s look in the “Chanel” music video goes deep into the archives.
One of the standout pieces is the white Chanel hula hoop bag from the 2013 spring/summer collection by then creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
Other pieces include a 1991 quilted black bomber jacket and accessories once worn by models Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington in the 90s.
In an interview with "Vogue", Hart shared how difficult it was to source the rare items.
“The rental costs for these things are astronomical, and I explained I had a fraction of that, and they really believed in it and let me get away with murder. It was so emotional for me, to be honest, to see some of these pieces I had been obsessed with since I was little.
"These era-defining moments like the hula hoop bag, all of these museum-quality pieces they trusted me with.”
He added, “She’s wearing these belts that are each like $20,000 (over R16,000) at full retail. These classic Karl leather pieces it was so cool to put them together. I did have to sign my life away in case things broke. But nothing broke!”
Before the song’s release, “Chanel” had already sparked online debate after rapper Yung Miami accused Tyla of stealing her song idea.
The "City Girls" star claimed on X that Tyla “ran off” with her concept after she once played it for her.
“This girl really ran off with my song, and I don’t know how to feel about it. Mind you, I played this song for this girl,” she wrote.
She later referenced her unreleased track titled “Take Me to Chanel”, posting, “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel,” clearly aimed at Tyla.
Yung Miami has been teasing her version since early 2024, calling it the “bad b**** anthem of 2025.” When fans pointed out she took too long to release hers, she replied, “Don’t matter, it’s my mf song!!!”
“Chanel” first caught fans’ attention when Tyla performed it at the Global Citizen Festival, where the crowd sang along to the chorus. She also teased clips on social media, including one showing models Anok Yai and Alton Mason dancing to the song.
Another highlight of the release is Tyla’s dream collaboration finally coming true. Canadian R&B artist Partynextdoor appears on the song, his voice heard throughout the song saying, “Put her in Chanel.”
Earlier this year, Tyla told Capital Xtra she would love to work with him, and now he is credited for “additional vocals” on the single.
