Despite battling sinusitis and heading into an intense five-day performance run, J’Something found solace in love.
En route to a show, he reflected on his vulnerability, admitting that his voice is his career, and the fear of not delivering weighed heavily on him, especially with a major performance at Kirstenbosch Gardens looming.
But amid his worries, a simple phone call with Coco changed everything.
After their routine check-in, J’Something felt an undeniable surge of energy.
“It was her voice,” he shared, crediting his wife’s love, companionship, and care for giving him the strength to push through.
He spoke about the depth and richness that time has brought to their relationship, reinforcing that true partnership is about showing up for each other, especially in the tough moments.
Acknowledging that marriage isn’t always sunshine and roses, he made it clear that he wasn’t promoting the institution itself, but rather the essence of deep connection. “Love isn’t a contract on a piece of paper,” he mused. “It’s not even a word - it’s a journey.”
