Sjava has addressed a technical issue affecting his latest EP, “Inkanyezi Live”.
On social media, the artist explained that some listeners may have trouble accessing the project.
“If 'Inkanyenzi' is showing ‘Not Available’, please remove and re-download it,” he wrote. “Sorry for the inconvenience, it’s a technical glitch.”
“Inkanyezi Live" was released in January 2025. The project captures the essence of Sjava’s live shows, which have built a loyal following as fans travel to watch his performances.
After releasing his third studio album, “Isibuko”, in 2023, Sjava focused on strengthening his live performances, completing two sold-out tours in 2023 and 2024.
The title “Inkanyezi”, meaning “a star”, reflects the importance of live performance in his career. The EP contains five tracks centred on themes of love, longing and devotion, all presented through the atmosphere of a live show.
The EP begins with “Kuye”, a song about destiny and love. Lyrics such as “My heart turns silver like I lost in the finals,” highlight the tension between love and loss.
“Sleepover” follows, telling the story of intimacy and companionship, with lyrics that emphasise mutual commitment.
In “Madibuseng”, Sjava reflects on a love that is both present and inconsistent, describing the difficulty of being with someone whose emotions change daily.
“Uyena” is a declaration of love and faith, encouraging listeners to remain focused on their goals despite challenges. Its rhythm and energy have also made it suitable for dance trends on social media.
The EP concludes with “Indoda Enjani", which explores a relationship strained by a man’s devotion to Maskandi music and politics, leading to jealousy from his partner.
Last week, Sjava confirmed that the EP had gone triple platinum. “Thank you so much for carrying this project with so much love. Big love to the team that made this possible,” he shared.
Born Jabulani Hadebe in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, Sjava gained recognition with his debut album “Isina Muva" in 2016, which earned him several awards and introduced him as one of the leading voices in Afro-soul and African trap.
His work often blends traditional influences with contemporary sounds, while his lyrics focus on love, culture and social realities.
With “Inkanyezi Live", he continues to strengthen his role as both a recording artist and performer, showing how live music remains central to his career.
