Singer Kaylow recovering well after surviving another car crash

South African R&B star Kaylow says he is grateful to be alive and in good spirits after being involved in yet another serious car accident.

Award-winning South African musician Kaylow has confirmed that he survived another car crash and is recovering in hospital.

The ‘Soul Café’ hitmaker, said he is in good spirits after the accident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 18, while he was driving home from the studio in Ruimsig, north of Johannesburg, to his family in Tshwane.

The soulful singer, whose real name is Kelello Segoana, confirmed the incident on social media.

“In the early hours of Saturday, October 18, 2025, while driving home from the studio in Ruimsig to my family in Pretoria, I was unfortunately involved in a car accident caused by a tyre blowout on the N1 near Beyers Naudé,” he said in a statement on his Instagram story.

“This incident led to a loss of control, resulting in a crash that has rendered the vehicle a total loss.”

Kaylow said he is recovering in hospital and thanked fans for their support.

“I am currently in hospital recovering and remain in good spirits. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all my fans and the public for their concern and support. This is a statement from @kaylowofficial regarding the recent car accident,” he said.

Messages of support have been flooding social media, with fans wishing him a speedy recovery.

This is not the first time the artist has been involved in a car accident. 

In September 2024, IOL News reported that the South African R&B singer and songwriter had been hospitalised following another crash.

At the time, his management confirmed the incident in a statement on his Instagram page, thanking fans for their concern.

“Kaylow, our beloved brother, is on the mend after a recent car accident. We’re grateful for the outpouring of love and support from his fans during this time.

“He’s surrounded by loved ones and making progress. We’ll share updates on his recovery as he continues to heal. Thank you for your continued support,” the statement read.

Born in Soweto, Kaylow rose to fame for his smooth vocals and heartfelt lyrics, making a name for himself in the South African music scene. 

He began recording in 2009 and gained recognition through Darque’s Difference in London.

His 2014 hit “The Soul Café”, from his debut album Reach Out, was well received for its themes of love and sensual grace, earning him a strong following. 

His 2021 single 24 Hours further cemented his presence in the music industry.

In 2017, following the release of his second album War for Love, Kaylow was named Best Male Vocalist at South Africa’s inaugural Dance Music Awards.
