Dearest gentle reader, it seems the ton must once again prepare itself, for a brand new sequel of “Bridgerton” might soon be on the horizon.

In an interview with the "Glass Half Full" podcast, “Bridgerton” executive producer Shonda Rhimes revealed that there have been discussions about a new spin-off series, which follows Violet Bridgerton’s story.

Craig Melvin, the host of the podcast, asked Rhimes what’s next in the “Bridgerton” world beyond Queen Charlotte’s story.

“I think definitely, that's an area that we're excited about and know that that could be really rich and really mined well,” she said.

“I’ve always said that I thought if we were going to do something like that, Violet would be a great person to tell the story about - the Bridgerton mom,” Rhimes shared. “Yeah, that's a possibility.”

In addition to their current focus on the Bridgertons, she mentioned that they are developing a separate project set in an entirely different world.

“But also, we are currently developing other projects that are very different from Bridgerton because, while 'Bridgerton' is amazing, we also want to stretch and grow,” Rhimes added.

While season four of the Netflix series focuses on Benedict Bridgerton's (Luke Thompson) love story, it also delves more into the story of the family's matriarch, Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell).

Years after the death of her husband, Edmund Bridgerton, Violet began a relationship with Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis), the brother of her friend Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh).

The pair’s relationship shifted from solely just friends who had feelings for each other, then it quickly shifted to something more - a romantic relationship.

However, this relationship was put on hold at the close of the season when Violet chose not to marry Marcus.

This follows the success of the spinoff series of “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”, which follows the story of the young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and consists of two plot lines.

The first plot line focuses on how the Queen is pressured to find an heir after the death of Princess Charlotte, who was the royal heir. The Queen forces her children to marry and produce another royal heir.

While the second plotline shows how Queen Charlotte met and married King George, and also tracks the King's developing mental health issues.
