With Heritage Month upon us, there are plenty of things to do in the City of Johannesburg to make September memorable with your loved ones without breaking the bank.

Heritage Day is an all-inclusive public holiday where South Africans don their colourful traditional attire to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions that shape the nation.

It is a reminder that our differences are the ingredients that make this nation so incredibly colourful and united.

Heritage Day is celebrated annually on September 24, and many like to spend it by expressing themselves in traditional clothing, attending cultural festivals, and dancing.

This also includes singing and spending time with their communities while surrounding that braai stand, engaging in interesting conversations.

If you’re not doing that, worry not, as South Africa is a beautiful mix of cultures and traditions and Heritage Day invites everyone to embrace both individual and collective legacies, fostering a sense of belonging.

South Africa is home to a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and ethnicities, as the country’s population comprises various ethnic groups, and there are many sites to visit for free to celebrate the cultural wealth of our nation.
