Tunisia said yesterday that it would use $1.56 billion (R9.5 billion) from the partial privatisation of its state-owned telecommunications operator, Tunisie Telecom, to repay part of its foreign debt in advance.
Tunisia's total foreign debt is estimated at $10.7 billion at the end of 2005, according to official figures.
