German prosecutors have dropped an investigation against Deutsche Telekom AG's chief executive, saying they found no evidence to support suspicion that Rene Obermann was involved in bribery in the Balkans.

Bonn prosecutors launched the investigation, which could have led to criminal charges, in September regarding suspected involvement in bribing the head of Macedonia's Makedonski Telekom in 2005.

Spokesman for prosecutors Fred Apostel said the investigation is ongoing against several other current or former Telekom employees.
