Tokyo - There is finally a form of combat sport you can enjoy without a qualm.
Robot boxing!
It's a cross between a video game, a robot expo, and a brutal ringside spectacle, only no one gets hurt - if you have the spare parts.
Robot boxing originated in the 1990s in Japan and has spread to other Asian countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China.
Unlike the high-minded robot competitions organised by Darpa, these matches are simple: You knock the opponent to the ground by all means possible. Also, the pugilists aren't autonomous, which is probably a good thing.
We visited a Hong Kong robot boxing team to meet some amazing homemade bipedal robots and the passionate people behind them.
