The 'Group Chat' TikTok series has captivated millions with its dramatic storyline

MILLIONS of TikTok users are glued to their screens thanks to a viral series by content creator Sydney Jo (@thatgirlsydjo), who has brought a fictional friend group’s drama to life through a cleverly acted group chat scenario.

If you’ve spent any time on the app lately, chances are you've seen snippets from the four-part (and counting) series or at least reactions to it.

With part five on the horizon, fans are eagerly waiting to see what happens next.

The story follows a group of girlfriends, all played by Sydney Jo, as they plan a girls' night out over a group chat. 

Everything goes smoothly until one of them, Hailey, says she wants to bring her boyfriend, Justin despite their agreement that it would be a no-boyfriends dinner.

The group is clearly not okay with this.

Hailey explains that Justin is going through a rough time and she doesn’t want to leave him alone, but the others argue that having him there would make it uncomfortable for them to open up.

The dinner was supposed to be just for the girls.

When it’s clear that no one else wants Justin to come, Hailey backs out entirely and leaves the group chat. That’s where the first video ends leaving viewers hanging.

The first episode alone racked up over 28 million views, and fans have been obsessing over every new development.

Despite being a fictional series, viewers are passionately discussing it online, even making their own videos analysing Hailey’s and Justin’s decisions.

The buzz around the series has even reached celebrities, with singer Charlie Puth commenting, “I’m so invested in this…” on one of Sydney Jo’s videos.

Since then, Puth has lent his voice to the role of Justin in the series.

In the latest episode, Hailey agrees to stick with the girls-only plan and changes the dinner location. 

But when two of the friends arrive early at the restaurant, they find Justin already there. That’s the first surprise.

Surprise number two? Hailey walks in moments later and sees Justin with another woman.

Now, fans are wondering: Did Hailey know he’d be there? Was this all a setup to catch him cheating?
