The Nissan Magnite is one of South Africa’s most popular SUVs, offering a wide range of models that include budget-conscious normally aspirated models and more powerful turbo variants.
With the 53kW 1.0-litre versions being more suited to city driving than long-distance cruising, the 74kW 1.0 turbo models have always made sense as the all-rounders in the range, but until now they have commanded a significant premium.
Now Nissan South Africa has announced a price adjustment for its turbocharged Magnite models, with prices falling by as much as R40,800 in the case of the range-topping 1.0T Acenta+ CVT, which can now be purchased for R369,900.
The 1.0T Acenta now costs R329,900 in manual guise and R344,900 as a CVT, with prices having fallen by R10,200 and R25,600 respectively.
The Magnite range was updated in late 2024.

At the base end of the turbo range, the 1.0T Visia manual now retails at R295,900, which is R13,800 less than before.
Nissan SA says this strategic pricing revision reflects the rising demand for feature-rich compact SUVs priced below R400,000.
“We wanted to align our model pricing to the needs of the local market, giving South African drivers access to higher-spec compact SUVs with exceptional performance and 5-star Global NCAP-rated safety features,” said Nissan SA’s managing director, Maciej Klenkiewicz.
“We’re confident this will appeal to increasingly price-sensitive buyers, and attract new fans to the exceptional value offered by the Nissan brand.”
The normally aspirated 1.0-litre versions of the Magnite continue to be offered, with prices ranging from R246,200 to R323,900 for the Visia, Acenta, and Acenta Plus models.
The Nissan Magnite range received a facelift in late 2024, which made six airbags standard on all models. This recent safety upgrade also allowed the Magnite to become the first compact SUV, sold in South Africa, to achieve five stars under the new Global NCAP crash-testing protocols.
The SUV also received visual upgrades, including a wider grille with black elements flowing into the lights and a more pronounced lower skidplate.
The Visia rides on 16-inch covered steel wheels, and its cabin comes with a traditional ‘2DIN’ audio system with six speakers and steering wheel controls. Other standard features include automatic air conditioning, power windows, rear parking sensors, central locking, six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system and ABS brakes.
Additionally, the Acenta comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera, 7.0-inch driver display, push-button start and auto-dimming rearview mirror. In turbo form, the Acenta also gains cruise control.
The flagship Acenta Plus ups the Magnite’s game with two-tone leather seats, LED bi-projector headlights, ambient interior lighting and Around View Monitor.
All Nissan Magnite variants are sold with a three-year or 30,000km service plan and a six-year or 150,000km warranty.
