When Hotel Sky was officially opened on April 1, general manager Mercia Horn joked that “it wasn’t an April Fool’s Day joke… we really did open a hotel during the pandemic.”
Last week it was announced as the winner in the category for luxury rooftop view hotels at the 15th annual World Luxury Hotel Awards.
Established in 2006, the awards recognise global, continent, regional and country luxury accommodation across more than 100 different categories, with travellers voting for their favourite hotels. Shangri-La in Paris was named the overall winner.
When Hotel Sky, on the Foreshore, launched its Sky-Hi Ride in May, it became the tallest building in the city centre. Last month it launched Infinity its new fine dining restaurant with 360-degree mountain and sea views.
