A shack fire displaced 15 people in Fisantekraal on Saturday, says the City’s fire department.
The fire started just after 10am in Peter Mokaba Street.
“Five formal dwellings were partially damaged, while seven wood and iron structures were destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined,” said City Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Edward Bosch.
Resident Francois Berry and the Mosselbank River Conservation Team, a non-profit company, donated toiletries to the fire victims on Sunday.
Anyone who can help the victims with building materials can contact community leader Elaine Hartzenberg at 072 352 6260.
