Students from Peterbridge College in Fish Hoek removed invasive Port Jackson from an open piece of land between Boyes Drive and Westlake Avenue, opposite the Westlake Golf Course, last week. The exercise was part of the student’s environmental studies and the college’s Peter Tyldeley led the group. An initial clearing was done in 2023 by the Boyes Drive Alien Clearing Group, a voluntary group working every Tuesday morning, and the plan is for the students to do the follow-up clean to ensure that the plot remains clear of invasive Port Jackson and Australian Myrtle. If you would like to volunteer with the group on Tuesdays, call Karen Hart at 083 288 4718.
