Cape Town DJ and Heart FM radio host Luwayne Wonder has been put in time out by the radio station.
This comes after a video of Luwayne being smacked around by an alleged “loan shark” went viral on social media over the weekend.
The 39-second video clip which is taken by the alleged "debt collector" wanting his money back shows the person roughing Luwayne up who does not attempt to fight back and is heard asking for "coke" (cocaine) money.
He can be heard telling Luwayne: “Is it for coke money? “Now you don’t want to answer because you vark on video. I got all your vark messages on my phone. I’m gonna make you famous, you n**i.”
Luwayne, real name Luwayne Bouwers later addressed the viral video on his social media with a statement saying that it was a financial loan and not cocaine with the comments turned off.
Luwayne was the late-night radio host on Heart 104.9 Vibeology show from 10pm to 1am and was well-known for wrecking the decks in the club scene .
Heart FM’s Communications Officer, Cassidy Da Silva Franks said: “Heart FM wishes to clarify statements alluding to one of its DJs having been “dismissed” from the station following recent social media posts.”
“While these rumours are untrue, it is agreed that in the interest of the person in question, for time away out of the public eye is best suited to allow for recovery from this horrific ordeal.
“We therefore convey our best wishes and strength for recovery, as it remains a difficult personal matter requiring resolve.”
