Eskom has announced that parts of Gauteng will be without electricity on Friday, August 15, as it carries out maintenance on its distribution network.
The planned outage will affect customers in Zonkezizwe Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 from 8:30am to 6pm.
The utility said the interruption is required to perform essential work on distribution power lines.
Eskom further cautioned: "Please note that, should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated."
Residents are urged to treat all electrical appliances as live during the outage for safety reasons. Eskom has apologised for any inconvenience caused and noted that the work may not proceed as scheduled if unforeseen circumstances arise.
