A suspected drug dealer fled when police arrived at a storage unit in Gqeberha, leaving behind drugs worth about R2m, including nearly 900g of tik and 217g of crack cocaine.
He has not been seen since.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said Mount Road police had been on patrol on Wednesday night when they were flagged down by a private security company in Cotswold.
The guards at the storage facility became suspicious of a man’s behaviour, searched him, and allegedly found drugs in his possession.
"Upon noticing the arrival of police members, the suspect dropped a black plastic bag and fled the scene by jumping over a high wall," she said.
"He remains at large.
"Police proceeded to search the storage locker as well as the discarded bag."
According to Gantana, the following items were confiscated:
Gantana said: "The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately R2m."
She said efforts to locate the suspect were ongoing.
