Imaan Syms, 30, was tragically shot and killed on Monday night in Sussex Street, Woodstock.
The unidentified suspect fled the scene, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Syms, who was pregnant at the time of the attack, will be laid to rest in accordance with Muslim rites at 11 am on Wednesday.

Police Investigation Underway
According to Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a spokesperson for the police, officers from Woodstock police station responded to reports of a shooting in Sussex Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Syms’ body with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Reports indicate that the victim was approached by an unknown suspect who opened fire before fleeing the scene. Medical personnel declared her deceased at the scene. The motive for the attack remains under investigation,” Twigg stated.
Community in Mourning
Syms was the daughter of Ziyaad Williams, a prominent figure in the Minstrel Fraternity and team owner of the D Six Hanover Minstrels.
Following the heartbreaking news, social media was flooded with tributes, with many remembering her as a loving and caring individual.
Gary Adams from the Woodstock Community Policing Forum (CPF) said that the shooting comes as a shock to the community of Woodstock as Sussex Street is a quiet street.
Speaking to the Daily Voice, Adams explains: “There are not any known gangs or gang activities in Sussex Street. The reason for the shooting and murder is still unknown.
“All we know is there were eyewitnesses who claimed that the person was on foot and said individual (shooter) ran down Sussex Street towards Lower Main Road and turned left like going back to town.
“We are not sure if there was a vehicle waiting for the person, the investigation will reveal that.”
