Are you a small business owner looking for that little something extra? Enter FlySafair’s Business Booster competition for the opportunity to elevate your humble operations to a whole new level.
We’re giving away 10 return Business Class flights to six local entrepreneurs. Plus, winners will receive an extra boost of publicity and advertising with a blurb on the Business Booster landing page with a link through to the business’s website, a full-page advert in InFlight magazine, brand visibility on our homepage, and a profile on all of our social media pages.
“Since winning the competition, Moko Originals has experienced positive growth – particularly in terms of brand visibility and credibility,” says Bobo Moko, founder of Moko Design House. “The goals we set going into the competition were centred around building credibility, unlocking networks, and hopefully opening doors for collaboration – and to a large extent, we achieved that. At the event, I connected with a lady who supplies corporate wear to FlySafair and other companies, and we’ve been consulting with her for business guidance ever since.”
“We are very grateful to have been chosen as one of the winners,” says Ponatshego Mothusi, founder of Tona’s African Dolls. “Since then, so much has changed for us. One of the biggest shifts has been the trust we’ve built with our customers. Initially, many people were hesitant to shop with us online, often fearing it could be a scam. But thanks to the exposure and credibility that came with winning the Business Booster competition, our reputation has grown tremendously. We’ve seen a noticeable increase in online purchases, and customers now feel more confident and safe supporting us. The prize helped us improve our production capacity, invest in packaging, and continue telling our story with pride. Thank you again for believing in us — your support has played a big part in where we are today.”
“Find A Coach has come on in leaps and bounds since the announcement went live at the end of last year,” says Anthony Johnson-Watts, founder of Find A Coach. “The business has grown from 50-odd coaches to over 250 in six months, as a result of a combination of increased advertising spend and the publicity from FlySafair’s Business Booster. The competition helped kickstart the business and give credibility to Find A Coach. Having the support of a brand like FlySafair really made a difference, especially for a small startup company like mine.”
“Winning the Business Booster in 2024 has helped my entrepreneurial journey a lot, as I’ve had the opportunity to travel and build business relationships outside of Cape Town,” says Thobinceba Qambela, founder of Fierce Creative Academy. “During a return flight from Johannesburg in May, I shared my Business Class row with a gentleman from the UK who was also travelling to Cape Town. Since then, we’ve been discussing doing business together in the fashion industry. This was such a great opportunity for me as a young entrepreneur looking at growing on a global scale.”
“The goals I was hoping to meet this year with the help from the Business Booster competition have become a reality,” says Ryan Burgess, founder of GrowPro. “I have relocated my business to the Western Cape and the flight tickets proved very helpful with the additional travelling. I have also been given more opportunities and contacts through this whole process. I’ve since met with more aspiring farmers, and the traction on my website has dramatically increased, bringing in more calls and sales.”
“We most definitely benefited from the exposure our brand received in association with FlySafair,” says Mike Nel, founder of Food Sock. “Since winning last year, we have leveraged the achievement in discussions and presentations where relevant. Being identified and associated by a big brand name like FlySafair has built our brand awareness.”
“Being a Business Booster winner helped with the expansion of our wholesale operations into other regions of South Africa,” says James Pilkington, founder of Pets Planet. “A big thank you for that!”
