As the nation awaits the second test match between the Springboks and Wallabies this weekend in Cape Town, IOL has compiled a guide on how to get to the DHL Stadium on game day.

This game is the first test match between the rugby rivals in Cape Town since 2014.

The City of Cape Town has announced its free Park and Ride service for the game on Saturday, August 23, for the Castle Lager Rugby Championship.

The gates to the stadium will open at 12pm.

The City of Cape Town will also be availing MyCiTi shuttle for free that will start operating from 11.30am from the Bellville Velodrome, Century City, the CTICC, Thibault Square, and the Civic Centre and return services will operate until 9.30pm.

Mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith said around 55,000 spectators are expected for Saturday’s game.

“We know that game days mean heavy traffic and congestion on our roads, especially with around 55 000 spectators expected at DHL Stadium. That’s why the City has worked with the event organisers to expand transport options that reduce congestion and get fans to the stadium safely.

“We encourage everyone to use the Park-and-Ride system and dedicated shuttle services, which offer a convenient, reliable, and traffic-beating way to enjoy the game without the stress of driving. We are also ensuring that our Safety and Security personnel are out and about to ensure people are able to get to the stadium, enjoy the gam,e and return home safely,” Smith said.
