There was a widespread power outage on Wednesday morning, days before the G20 Summit.

The Union Buildings and Pretoria CBD were plunged into darkness, but power was quickly restored.

The City of Tshwane said a team of technicians was dispatched to investigate the cause of the outage.

The affected areas included Groenkloof, Muckleneuk, Arcadia, Sunnyside, Berea, UNISA, the Union Buildings, and parts of Pretoria Central.

Last week, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said there would be no water or electricity shortages during the G20 Summit.

He said the City had intensified its service delivery operations ahead of the G20.
