A Yellow Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy rains has been issued for KwaZulu-Natal, with the South African Weather Service alerting residents to potential flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

A Yellow Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms, heavy rains and damaging winds has been issued for KwaZulu-Natal.
The South African Weather Service (Saws) warned that the heavy downpours are expected to result in flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas, and bridges as well as excessive lightning, damaging winds, and hail, over the areas of the central and northern parts of KZN.
A Yellow Level warning has been issued for disruptive rain leading to slippery roads and reduced driving visibility over southern parts of KZN.
The forecaster has also warned of severe thunderstorms and heavy rain in the extreme parts of the Free State.
Provincial Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has placed disaster management teams on high alert.
In Gauteng, motorists are urged to drive cautiously and keep a safe following distance.
According to the Gauteng Police Board, the inclement weather is expected to continue across the province until later Monday evening. The board urged motorists to be alert.
