Television channel sees red over cartoon porn website

Time Warner's Cartoon Network has sued a Canadian company, accusing it of using a similar name to sell pay-per-view pornographic comics and animated movies over the internet.

Adult Cartoon Network, a British Columbia company, operates a website offering "adult" animated movies and comics. Cartoon Network sued the company to stop the use of what it contends is a confusingly similar name.

"Most of defendant's animation content includes language or images that are offensive or inappropriate and are inconsistent with and tarnish the image of Cartoon Network," the television channel said on Monday in a complaint in federal court in Atlanta.

Adult Cartoon Network filed a trademark application with the US patent and trademark office in 2005. The trademark features a circular logo with a cartoon woman, the site's name and the phrase "Get Connected".
