The 10 finalists of the inaugural Financial Planner of the Year competition have been selected. The competition is co-sponsored by the Financial Planning Institute, financial services company ipac and Personal Finance.
The regional and overall winners will be announced at the Life Offices Association/Financial Planning Institute/Association of Unit Trusts annual financial planning convention in Johannesburg in May.
The finalists are: Lionel Karp of Hemmes, Karp & Associates, Johannesburg; Paul Leonard of Paul Leonard Financial Fitness, East London; Trudie Crouwkamp of ABSA Brokers, Benoni; Daan Schoeman of Daan Schoeman Insurance Brokers, Pietersburg; Darrel Brown of Darrel Brown & Company, Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal; Ian van Heerden of Findata, Bellville, Western Cape; Debbie Netto of Netto Financial Services, Pinelands, Western Cape; Roland van Alphen of Precedent Financial Services, Randburg, Gauteng; Mark Fuhr of The Professional Advisory Group, Bedfordview, Johannesburg; and Gerrit Viljoen of Ultima Financial Advisers, Lynwood Glen, Pretoria.
The three-day financial planning convention from May 9 to 11 is open to anyone involved in the financial industry, including investors.
