Personal Finance will host its inaugural PF Money Series event, themed "Breaking Barriers: Building a Financially Inclusive South Africa." The event will take place on November 27 at Wanderers Stadium, bringing together leading voices from banking, fintech, policy, advisory, and consumer advocacy.
The session will centre on financial inclusion, an essential pillar for national economic growth and individual prosperity. Despite progress in digital banking and financial education, millions of South Africans remain underserved by traditional financial systems. Limited access to banking, savings, credit, insurance, and investment tools continues to deepen inequality and restrict opportunity.
Personal Finance editor Dieketseng Maleke says this event is about more than financial literacy.
“It’s about confronting the systemic barriers that prevent people from participating fully in the economy. We want to spark a conversation that leads to real change, practical, inclusive, and rooted in the lived experiences of South Africans,” she says.
The PF Money Series will feature a dynamic panel of experts and a keynote address designed to challenge assumptions and inspire action. Attendees can expect a robust discussion on how collaborative, innovative approaches can expand access to financial services and build a more inclusive economy.
Ofentse Tabane, managing director at Randcorp and the main speaker, says: “It’s an absolute privilege to be speaking about a topic that resonates deeply with the pursuit of equality and prosperity: financial inclusivity. As a proud South African, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of opportunity. Yet, I am reminded that such opportunities are not accessible to all, and it’s our collective responsibility to bridge this gap.”
He says breaking financial barriers is not merely an economic necessity; it’s a moral imperative.
“By dismantling systemic obstacles and fostering an inclusive financial ecosystem, we can unlock unparalleled potential, drive sustainable growth, and forge a brighter future for all. I’m thrilled to share my perspectives and learn from the trailblazing work being done in this arena,” he says.
The PF Money Series is open to the public, with limited seating available. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to Khensani.magubela@africannewsagency.co.za early and join the movement toward a more financially inclusive South Africa.
