The Forward7 Initiative, which specializes in providing clean cooking solutions, participated as a strategic partner at Sub-Saharan Africa LPG Expo – Johannesburg 2026, held in Johannesburg, on April 9–10, 2026.
During the event, Forward7 presented its vision of LPG for clean cooking as a sustainable and effective solution for improving quality of life and driving economic efficiency, through its keynote address and panel discussions.
From this platform, the initiative also announced the launch of the Forward7 Clean Cooking Award—a global award designed to empower leading innovators in clean cooking and encourage organizations to develop advanced solutions that support the future of the LPG sector in Africa.
The award features three main categories designed to address key clean cooking energy challenges across African markets. The Urban Scale-Up category focuses on solutions that unlock access, efficiency, and market growth in dense urban and peri-urban environments.
The Frontier Contexts category targets solutions for remote, hard-to-reach areas, underserved rural populations, and humanitarian environments. The Continuity & Loyalty Program category aims to strengthen long-term LPG use by turning initial adoption into sustained customer relationships, and reducing reliance on harmful alternatives.
The award journey begins with the announcement of the challenge in Johannesburg and culminates in the recognition and celebration of the winners’ achievements. The total prize pool is $45,000, with $15,000 awarded to the winning project in each category, funded by Forward7 to support the development of high-impact ideas that contribute to solving energy challenges.
Through its participation, Forward7 aims to lead a global dialogue that positions LPG at the forefront of sustainable energy solutions, while highlighting the role of Saudi initiatives in addressing energy poverty worldwide. The initiative continues to bring together partners and governments to advance the sustainable development goals.
This participation further strengthens Forward7’s position as a key global driver of the clean energy transition in clean cooking, and reflects Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to supporting innovation and international collaboration to address development challenges and promote community prosperity.
LPG Expo 2026 in Johannesburg marks the first edition dedicated to Sub-Saharan Africa and serves as a leading strategic platform that brings together industry leaders, policymakers, and investors to explore policy frameworks and innovative solutions that support the growth of the LPG market.
The event aims to accelerate clean energy adoption and expand safe and affordable access to LPG.
