Proteas captain Aiden Markram lost the all-important toss again ahead of the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan counterpart Shan Masood therefore had no hesitation in electing to bat first.

The visitors made two changes to their line-up with allrounder Marco Jansen and premier spinner Keshav Maharaj returning to the playing XI at the expense of Wiaan Mulder and Prenelan Subrayen.

“We would have liked to bat first as well, we got a couple of lessons from the first innings in the previous game and we need to learn from them,” said Markram.

“We have got world-class spinners in our ranks and they would like to make the best use of conditions.”

Pakistan made one change by adding to their spin contingent with 38-year-old spinner

Asif Afridi making his Test debut with Hasan Ali missing out.

“A bit on the drier side but we don't know how it is going to play, so it's best to bat first,” Shan Masood said.

“The toss doesn't decide everything, we still have to execute well. We have to take it session by session.”
